Reliance Jio has officially launched its new wireless internet service, JioAirFiber, which aims to meet the connectivity needs of home entertainment, smart home services, and high-speed broadband users.
The objective is to provide high-speed internet access across India. During the 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM), Jio introduced JioAirFiber, emphasizing that its extensive optical fiber infrastructure covers more than 1.5 million kilometres throughout India.
“With Jio AirFiber, we are expanding our addressable market to rapidly cover every home in our country with similar quality of service. Jio AirFiber will enable millions of homes with world-class digital entertainment, smart home services and broadband, through its solutions across education, health, surveillance and smart home,” said Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited.

With this vast optical-fiber network, Jio can potentially reach over 200 million locations. However, despite this broad coverage, the company faces the challenge of establishing physical last-mile connectivity, which often leads to significant delays in various parts of the country. Consequently, millions of potential customers remain without access to home broadband due to the complexities and time required to extend optical fiber connections to their premises.
Jio AirFiber, guarantees fiber-like speeds without the requirement for physical wiring. It’s a hassle-free setup – users just need to plug it in, power it on, and they’re ready to enjoy high-speed internet. Moreover, users have the option to establish a personal Wi-Fi hotspot within their homes, connecting to ultra-high-speed internet supported by True 5G technology.
