After Apple, Samsung to give Galaxy S24 series titanium frame across models, variants

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series, which is rumoured to consist of the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, may introduce a new material in its construction, according to information from a reputable tipster on the X platform.

This development follows Apple’s recent unveiling of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, where the Cupertino-based company incorporated titanium edges instead of the stainless steel frames used in previous models. If Samsung follows suit with titanium, it could potentially lead to an increase in the price of these forthcoming smartphones.

According to the tipster, known as Revegnus, Samsung is considering manufacturing titanium frames for the standard Galaxy S24 model in its production facility in Vietnam.

As for the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra, it is said that Samsung will collaborate with two undisclosed partner companies to produce titanium frames.

However, another well-known tipster, Ice Universe, responded to this claim by suggesting that only the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra might feature a titanium frame.

In the smartphone industry, this recent shift to titanium is exemplified by Apple’s 2023 flagship models, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which feature a new 3nm A17 Pro chip, an Action button replacing the mute switch, and a titanium frame.

To balance cost and thermal considerations, Apple employed a combination of titanium for the external frame and aluminium for the internal structure.

Furthermore, a separate tipster recently leaked computer-aided design (CAD) renders of the alleged Galaxy S24 Ultra. These images indicate a design that closely resembles its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, with a quad rear camera setup and support for Samsung’s S Pen.

Previous reports have suggested that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will offer a 6.8-inch AMOLED display and run on Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in most markets.

In some regions, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are expected to feature Samsung’s Exynos 2400 SoC and support fast charging of up to 45W. While Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy S24 series, these insights from tipsters provide a glimpse into the potential developments in the upcoming lineup.
